CALIFORNIA RED SHEEP
Dream it.
California Red Sheep began in 1970’s when Dr. Glenn Spurlock of Davis, CA cross bred Tunis and Barbados sheep with a goal to create larger frame sheep and a wool-less breed of sheep.
Build it.
Instead of wool-less sheep, the new California breed created the sought after, deep colored wool that is prized by hand spinners and weavers.
Grow it.
The breed is calm, has a gentle disposition, distinctive color and is resistant to many health and handling problems. A very successful year round breeder, producing unequaled tender and flavorful meat quality. A fantastic renewable food source that is easy to raise.
