Build it.

Eggs fom Japanese Quail are nutritious and their consumption may have a positive impact on nutrition and are a sustainable food source.

Quail egg nutrition, according to the USDA, when compared per equal units to chicken eggs are higher in Iron B1, and Folate than chicken eggs and slightly higher in protein and phosphorus. They are also higher in fat because of the larger ratio of yolk to white, however, the fat is monounsaturated….good fat!

Grow it.

Quail are amazing for many reasons but first and foremost they will begin to produce eggs for you at 8 weeks of age. Coturnix quail are quiet little birds that do well in confined predator safe spaces.

Giving them ground contact allows them to do what they want to do naturally like dust bathe and poke around the soil for bugs. They will fertilize the spaces they have inhabited and you could seed fresh greens behind them for a nice rotational grazing program.
